There is a high demand for automotive technicians, which means that you can earn very decent money if you decide to pursue a career in automotive service.

Becoming certified as an automotive technician is not so complicated and doesn't take too long either with a qualified automotive schooling program.  You will not be required to spend 4 years earning your degree, so you will not have to worry about making a significant time investment for completing unnecessary courses.

It will take you only up to 2 years to complete a certificate program and get your diploma, because the education is concentrated in the field that really matters. It is a fast track preparation which ensures that you get direct knowledge and experience, which will be fully irrelevant when you are going to be hired and start working as an automotive technician.

This career path is right for you if you are passionate about the technology behind vehicles, you keep up with the evolution of automobile design, you do not mind working with your hands and you enjoy solving problems and completing tasks.

In some states, as an auto mechanic, you will be required to get a license to practice your trade.  Getting your license involves passing a formal exam. Additionally, if you get a job involving working on vehicles produced by a certain manufacturer, you may need a manufacturer certification, which is obtained by completing another specific training program.
